Is this possible? I know it can be done because I can actually do it sometimes. However, I will admit that most of my quilting these days does not involve the sewing machine. It seems to be too much trouble to get it ready to use. It's much easier to just grab my hand quilting bag, my latest project, and plunk on the couch. I'm ready to quilt in just a few moments.
When do I find the time? Beats me. Sometimes it just finds me. I had plenty of time today to quilt, only I decided to read instead. That's how it works. I can either quilt, read, work on the computer, or play with my boys. Right now I'm obviously working on the computer. *smile*
So, here's a question for you. Have you ever considered doing a project that requires only hand work? Strangely enough, those are the projects that are getting worked on the most for me. My hand work bag is a nice little makeup bag that I found in Wal-Mart for about $5 in the cosmetics section. It's also bright red with a little handle on the top. There are no compartments inside, just one big catch-all area. Even my bigger shears fit in there. I love this little bag. I also love the fact that it's red because then it's easier to find after I set it down. *grin*
My current project is called "Arabesque" and it's being offered as a Quilt University class. When you have 3 small children at home and you work part time, sometimes the only time you can do anything is in the middle of the night. Most quilt stores don't offer classes at midnight. *grin* This particular project is all 100% hand work. I'm loving it!! We're supposed to be on lesson 4 right now. I'm sort of lurking back in lesson 1 still. Oh, well. I'll finish it eventually. I'm actually trying to do this quilt from start to finish without starting anything else or getting too distracted. If I actually pull it off, it will be one of the few quilts I have ever done that with. I'll be really thrilled actually.
Well, it's just about dinner time. Guess I should go see what's for supper, huh?
